Phil Wolsey


Philip joined OPDC in 1990 and he serves both the public and the commercial sectors. He is currently working with a number of senior executives, offering coaching, team facilitation and management development, as appropriate. His clients include Ultra Electronics, Allied Irish Banks, Logica, Coca Cola, the Prison Service and a number of other public sector bodies in the United Kingdom including Oxfordshire County Council, Pathfinder Medical Care and many NHS Trusts.

Philip is a Senior Consultant of OPDC.  He has over twenty years experience in people, team, and organisational development.  He has a mental health, psychotherapy and consultancy background. Philip has worked at individual and team level and he has a special interest in whole system approaches for working with organisations. His working models include Search Conference, Future Search, Appreciative Inquiry, Real Time Strategic Change and Open Space Technology. 


Management Development and Coaching

Recent assignments include delivery of management development programmes in Ireland and the UK. Programmes included class room based modules, Action Learning Sets and 1:1 Coaching sessions. Philip is also coaching and developing senior managers and partners from Ernst and Young in Greece and has delivered coaching and management development for middle and senior managers in Coca Cola in Eastern Europe.  He has been on the coaching panel for the Directors of Dublin Airport Authority.

  • Change Management
    • Designed, developed and delivered a change management programme in retail banking for bank managers, rolled out nationally.
    • Strategic change for a Community Interest Company delivering primary care medical services for a Midlands PCT.
    • Facilitation of strategic change events for the Department of Health and the Prison Service
  • Other organisational development assignments
    • He has been a member of the Children’s Workforce Development Council representing the Department for Children, Schools and Families to consult on systems for integrated working in children’s services across England and offer team and management development
    • He has designed and delivered many management development programmes over the years, both in the private and public sectors.

Philip has a master’s degree in mental health, is a qualified teacher of further education and a Chartered Management Consultant.  His work is spread across the commercial sector, public sector and third sector, giving him a deep understanding of the environments of a wide range of organisations. He is licensed in the use of Strategic Leadership Effectiveness 360 (tm) and Individual Directions Inventory (tm).
